M2H

M2H · the game studio of Mike Hergaarden · the Netherlands, since 2009

I build games that get better when someone joins.

Twenty years, twenty-odd titles. Browser worlds, party chaos, monster trucks, the trenches of the Great War. Wildly different games, and for the last decade every single one of them multiplayer.

Next up is the one I have wanted to make since 2005: a co-operative multiplayer RPG. What I’m doing now →

The catalogue

The ones I still run, plus the WW1 series we spent nine years on and sold in 2022. Most of it made with my brother Matt, and the big ones with a team.

Right now

Building software again, twenty years later

Alongside the first games there were always websites, built by a sixteen-year-old who could not stop making things. That itch came back, so I’ve been making software again. Fieldkeep is the furthest along, and MyBabyStages (BabyFases.nl in Dutch) is a small one that’s finished.

I’m not letting go of games. The co-op RPG is the project I keep coming back to no matter what else is on the desk. No name and no date until there’s something worth showing.

More about what I’m up to →

What I love is friends, or siblings, sitting down and building something together. Everyone with a role that actually matters, and something standing at the end of it that none of them could have made alone. That’s the game I want to make next.
